History: The noughties saw Carlo Ancelotti's AC Milan became the most feared sides in Europe, beginning with the Coppa Italia & UEFA Champions League double of 2002/03. The domination in Europe in the decade, however, did not translate into domestic dominance with the 2003/04 season as the only Scudetto title won under Don Carlo's tenure.

With the squad strengthened by the arrival of Cafu on a free, the move completed the spine of the lineup. Led by influential club captain, Paolo Maldini, the red half of Milan began that season with a UEFA Super Cup win over Porto FC. With the brilliance of Andriy Shevchenko leading the line with 24 league goals, firing the Rossoneri to the Scudetto with 82 points, eleven ahead of Francesco Totti's AS Roma. The Ukrainian forward would go on to pick up the 2004 Ballon d'Or as Europe's best striker. Another standout of Milan's 2003/04 season was the emergence of a young Brazillian playmaker in Kaká who also arrived in the summer. Entrusted with the role of trequartista supported by Genaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Andrea Pirlo in a midfield diamond, Kaká would go on to explode with an outstanding 2004 - 2007 period, cuminating in being crowned the best player in 2007 with a Ballon d'Or. AC Milan's second player of the 2000s and sixth overall.
