History: This Asics home shirt comes from one of the most dramatic and unlikely chapters in Premier League history. Bradford City survived their first top-flight season in 77 years on the final day in 1999/2000, beating Liverpool 1–0 through David Wetherall's header to escape relegation in extraordinary fashion. Chairman Geoffrey Richmond then made the most ambitious signing in the club's history, bringing in Benito Carbone on wages reported at £40,000 a week — an extraordinary figure for a newly-promoted club. Despite the extravagance, Bradford were relegated in 2000/01, and Carbone's contract proved a financial burden that pushed the club towards administration.

Benito Carbone was a technically gifted Italian forward who lit up English football with spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Bradford City. Quick, creative and capable of moments of real brilliance, he is best remembered in England for his cultured play during the Premier League era and remains a fondly recalled figure among fans of the clubs he represented.
