History: The 2005/06 season was a rollercoaster for Leeds United, as the club, still recovering from financial turmoil, pushed for promotion back to the Premier League. Under manager Kevin Blackwell, the Whites mounted a strong challenge in the Championship, finishing fifth and reaching the playoff final. At the heart of the team was long-serving right-back Gary Kelly, who wore the number 2 shirt and provided invaluable leadership in what would be his penultimate season with the club. A one-club man, Kelly’s experience and defensive consistency were crucial as Leeds came agonizingly close to returning to the top flight, only to fall short in a crushing 3-0 defeat to Watford at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
Leeds’ 2005/06 Admiral home kit paid homage to the club’s rich history, featuring an all-white design with blue and yellow pinstripes & black accents on the collar and sleeves. The Admiral logo returned to Elland Road, bringing nostalgia for the classic kits of the 1970s, while the Whyte and Mackay sponsor remained prominently displayed across the chest for a third season.
The heartbreak of missing out on Premier League promotion hit Leeds was compounded by a 10 point deduction for entering administration guaranteed the club's demise in dead last the following season, relegating the club to the third tier of English football.
