Leeds United started their first season back in the Championship following relegation in the previous season. A slow start with three wins, four draws and two losses in the opening nine games saw Leeds hovering just below the playoff spot. A strong run of games between game week 10 to 40 with only 4 losses & 4 draws in between saw Leeds topped the table once in a tight promotion race involving fellow 2022/23 relegated class, Leicester City & Southampton. In the pack were also surprise pack Ipswich Town who were having a revival in recent seasons after relegation to League One in 2018/19 and in their first season back in the second tier of English football.

Ultimately, a dramatic collapse in the final six games with only a win saw Leed surrendered the second final automatic promotion spot to settle for the playoffs. The Lily Whites saw off Norwich City in the semi-finals but were unfortunate to fall in the final hurdle to an Adam Armstrong goal for a young Southampton side condemning them to another season in the Championship.
