History: In 1986, Singapore took part in the second edition of the FIFA organised Asia Coke Cup, an international youth tournament featuring national Under-16 sides from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan and host China, with the host city of Guangzhou fielding their own team. Singapore fared poorly in the group stage, finishing last place after three games in losing efforts against China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. The competition ran from December 18–26, with China winning the final against Japan. The FIFA Coke Cup would run for two more editions, with the final event held in 1992 in Bangkok.
